Writer, Director Found for The Howling Reborn

Source: Moonstone Entertainment
November 6, 2009

The Howling legacy lives on in a new project being flaunted at the American Film Market by Moonstone Entertainment.

The below sales poster was on display with writer-director Joe Nimziki attached. His credits to date include one thing and one thing only, a 1997 episode of the rebooted The Outer Limits.

At what stage in development the film is in is unknown.

Original Howling director Joe Dante has said in the past that he's been courted for a remake in the past and there are interested parties, but nothing has come to fruition.

Moonstone Entertainment is also repping the Stephen King adaptation From a Buick 8.

So how does this work. "Hey, I got a great Idea. Let's make a poster, call a press conference and tell everyone. We are gonna remake a classic film and completely revolutionize the franchise. We don't have a write, director, stars or anything other than a badly photoshopped poster, but It'll make a mint. So which sucker...uh studio, would like to buy this!"
Come on guys. Either grow an original pair and find someone who can actually make movies, or stop throwing carp our way. Hey, I've got a great idea, hire one of the bozo's that post here to direct. I'll bet they've got more youtube credits than this guy ha directing experience.

Very lame. This is one of those terrible franchises with an awesome first movie. It definately needs a remake but this is not the way to start. BOOOOO!

Im usually one for certain remakes, but I agree, this one shouldn't have been touched. I heard there's also a Monster Squad remake trying to get greenlit, that one ticks me off.

I don't agreed the franchise is great and a remake is needed.

Some of the Howling Franchise films were amazing. The original stands out as a true classic and the Howling 2 is a guilty pleasure of mine. The lost me for a while with the 3rd film But with 4 and 5 things started to get a bit better especially with the somewhat take on "The Beast Must Die" formula. Make a movie in which one is a werewolf and you have to figure out which one is the werewolf. Granted It worked pretty well for The Beast Must Die and only so so for the Howling. The last one i saw was where they went back to the original commune which had the feel of the original for a little while.

As far as I'm concerned, Don't reboot the series just reboot the sequels or retcon them and make a new film that pick up so many years after the original. Seriously you don't mess with perfection. Even if you do own photoshop and havea picture of the original theatrical release poster and 45 seconds to kill.

Looks like another attempt at another lame HOWLING sequel, for at least it's not a HOWLING remake.

The Howling is the best werewolf movie "EVER". I'd love to see a remake of the original,by a Real talented director ,who loved the style of the original.
