A book entitled "The Complete History of Return of the Living Dead " is in the works and promises to be an exhaustive look at the series, kick-started by Dan O'Bannon in the '80s. The film is a milestone in zombie cinema for countless reasons - from its humorous approach to the introduction that the undead love to eat brains. And it's about time someone was moving ahead with a companion book.

Gary Smart, co-writer of this endeavor, dropped us a line seeking help:

"The book has support from over 50 (so far) members of the ROTLD franchise who have offered to support the project and give exclusive interviews delving into the productions of some of the most loved movies in zombie cinema. Support has come from: Dan O'Bannon, Brian Yuzna, Ken Weiderhorn, William...

More Hints at Valentine in Resident Evil: Afterlife

This week, Shock Till You Drop spoke with producer Don Carmody about a number of projects he has in the pipeline including Resident Evil: Afterlife , the fourth film in Screen Gems' franchise.

Carmody co-produced the first entry, as well as Apocalypse . He had to bow out of Extinction for another obligation, but he's hopeful Afterlife will pave the way for a bright future with more Evil films.

"Part two made more than one, three made more than two and we're hoping four will make more than three," he said. "It keeps the franchise strong. What we want to avoid is what's happening with the Saw franchise which is going the other way. We're hoping Paul being back in the driver's seat with 3-D and these big action set pieces will keep it going."...

Blood Creek DVD Art Washes In

One of 2009's more bizarre offerings, Blood Creek , is making its way to DVD on January 19.

Honestly, I enjoyed the hell out of this film, which was directed by Joel Schumacher and stars Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill and, briefly, Michael Fassbender. It's a mix of action, the occult, Nazi mayhem, but it's also a creature feature (with zombie f**kin' horses and dogs) and a siege picture in some respects with a dose of EC Comics atmosphere.

Totally unexpected. Give it a chance and you might dig it. The disc comes with Schumacher's commentary.

Earlier tonight, ShockTillYouDrop.com had a fun interview with the actress on the set of her new movie, Jim Mickle and Nick Amici's Stake Land (more on that soon), and not only did we learn that she has finished her voicework for the film, but she also revealed that Mos Def and Bill Moseley are joining her in the voice cast.
Where is Dark Castle's John Cusack Thriller The Factory ?

Dark Castle's serial killer thriller The Factory is supposed to be a grim piece of work.

It was written by Paul Leyden, an Australian actor-producer-director, and Morgan O'Neill. O'Neill also directed placing John Cusack into the role of a Buffalo, New York cop who's on the trail of an area serial killer. His case takes a turn for the worse when his daughter ( Nights in Rodanthe 's Mae Whitman) is kidnapped by the maniac forcing him to delve into some emotionally dark places to get her back.

Cusack was attached in 2007 and principal photography followed shortly after in 2008. But you're not going to see it this year or even next year.

"The main thing is the ending and the beginning, which is a flashback sequence that needed to be shot in different weather,"...

20 Minutes of Legion Seen: What Did We Think?

This week, Shock Till You Drop visited the Sony Pictures lot. Our reason was two-fold. We sat in for a day's-worth of shooting on Priest - an action-horror and sci-fi creation from director Scott Stewart starring Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Plummer. And, we got a chance to watch 20 minutes of Legion , Stewart's apocalyptic thriller, again starring Bettany, not as an ass-kicking man of the cloth but the archangel Michael. It's Michael's mission in the film to protect the unborn child of Adrianne Palicki who might just be the savior of the human race when God decides to send his angels to earth to wipe us clean off of the planet.

The 20 minutes shown were selected clips highlighting some of the main themes of the film. They also introduce...

EXCL: Producer Updates Us on Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 's future was looking pretty foggy.

After grossing nearly $100 million in worldwide box office receipts, there was the question of whether a follow-up to Christophe Gans' 2006 adaptation of the Silent Hill video game was even going to happen. After all, it was met with a mixed audience reaction. Some were dissatisfied with the story; others appreciated the familiar villains and brutal violence.

Then, in September, Davis Films officially announced Roger Avary ( Pulp Fiction ) was returning to pen the next entry and production was to rev up shortly after Resident Evil: Afterlife wrapped in Toronto, Canada. Avary, however, was sentenced to prison for a year in the weeks following this news, leaving the status of the sequel up in the air.

Fessenden Off The Orphanage Remake?

Back in August, we reported that filmmaker Larry Fessenden was attached to direct the American remake of The Orphanage , a project he'd co-written with producer Guillermo Del Toro. (Which quite frankly was a really good match in this writer's humble opinion.)

Sadly, it looks like we not get to see Fessenden's take on the material. Arrow In The Head reports from the set of Stake Land , (a flick that Fessenden is producing) that the director is off the project.

"The Orphanage was two years of waiting," explains Fessenden. "Working on the script with Guillermo was a very exciting experience, but then I got into a casting miasma and that's where the thing is; I think they're gonna do it another way, actually.
