More coverage: Legacy of the Lycanthrope: A Werewolf Timeline | Director Joe Johnston interview

Rick Baker and the Wolfman. The pairing of the two is sweet like peanut butter and chocolate, and when we broke the scoop about his involvement back in 2007, An American Werewolf in London fans rejoiced. It's the first time, in a long time, Baker gave us a lycanthrope. We almost got to see one of his beasties run rampant had Dimension Films and Wes Craven stuck with their initial vision of Cursed in 2005 (KNB EFX later took over creature duties when Baker's designs were scrapped). Before that, he took the minimalist approach in bringing out the animal in Jack Nicholson in Wolf .

Also over the weekend, director Joe Johnston sat down with the press to talk about the film. Shock went one-on-one with him here , however, during a press conference he had a few interesting nuggets to offer. When asked about the film's rating, Johnston said: "It was always an R rating. At one point, the head of the studio called me and said, 'You think we could re-cut this into a PG-13?' I said, 'Yes, but nobody would want to see it.' It was always going to be an R. It deserves to be an R."

Exclusive Interview: Frank Henenlotter!

As a native of Long Island, New York, I can't help but have a strong affinity for the films of fellow New Yorker Frank Henenlotter.

Back in junior high, my best friend's mother worked at the same police precinct as Frank's brother and as lifelong horror fanatics we couldn't help but get giddy by that fact that we were two degrees away from the director of Basket Case . On top of two Basket Case sequels, Henenlotter also helmed the trippy yet deranged Brain Damage (which featured a brain parasite voiced by famous horror host Zacherley - the "cool ghoul"!) and the cult horror/comedy classic Frankenhooker , which you can count Bill Murray among one of the films' biggest fans.

While keeping busy over the years by helping expand the cult exploitation library of...

Is Saw VII the Final Chapter?

Today, cameras began rolling on Saw VII with Kevin Greutert in the director's chair working from a script by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Will this be the final chapter? The question of the franchise's longevity has always been in question. The producing team behind it have given us various answers: There will be eight films. Nine films.

Well, "seven" might just be the magic number. Melton explains why to Demon FM : "I think it's going to end with Saw VII. I have a very strong feeling its going to end with Saw VII. That's something we're debating now. You saw in previous interviews or discussions where we thought Saw VIII would be the last one where we had the first trilogy and the second trilogy and then sort of a grand finale wrapped up in two films....

We've attempted a comprehensive rewrite on the script since I got here, but it's tough: the sets are built, the traps are built, the storyline is set, and any major changes mean throwing out existing stuff, and it's hard to find the time, money and will to do things a different way.
