July 22, 2009

Yahoo! Movies has debuted the new poster for director Martin Scorsese's psychological thriller Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson and Max von Sydow.

The film, opening October 2nd, is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

This will be a great movie - the cast and director pretty much guarantee it. The preview looked awesome also.

You all should go read the book if you haven't yet. It is awesome and will keep you in suspense the whole time. Denis Lehane is the go to author this decade. All of his movies have been great and have been directed by big name directors and have had phenomenal casts. I don't know why it's so easy to adapt his books awesomely and not so much other authors. But I'm glad when it came to one author they picked a really good one and did him right continuously.

I usually hate floating heads but this isn't too bad.

Looks great and has both Ben Kingsley and the great Max Von Sydow who should be no stranger to horror fans. Great cast and an interesting story.

Great director, actors, and source material. So-so poster and tagline. Ah, well, can't blame the filmmakers for the marketing.
