Neil Marshall is Ready to Burst at Ghost House

You read it here first that Lionsgate and Ghost House Pictures (Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert's production outfit) were possibly teaming for a 3-D take on Burst, by writer Gary Dauberman.

Tapert told us earlier this week that a director announcement was coming. Now we have learned, via a press release, that Neil Marshall, of Doomsday and The Descent, is at the helm. Lionsgate and Ghost House will indeed produce.

The story concerns a group of people holed up in a lodge during a winter storm. Things go awry when, one-by-one, they begin to spontaneously combust.

Tapert says, "Mike Paseornek and the Lionsgate team are leaders in the horror space. This, along with the opportunity to work closely with Joe [Drake] again, were motivating factors in our desire to partner with Lionsgate on Burst 3D. We hope to continue the partnership with Lionsgate on other projects like this."

"We are thrilled to be working again with Neil Marshall," says Lionsgate's Paseornek, "a modern master of horror, suspense and action. With Neil at the helm of Burst 3D, horror fans are guaranteed one of the most terrifying and innovative experiences of their moviegoing lives."

Marshall recently wrapped Centurion with Michael Fassbender and Dominic West.

Ryan could you do this site in 3D? lol. Just kidding. I don't understand why EVERY upcoming horror movie has to be in 3D.

Oh, the agony.

You bet, man. ShockTillYouDrop.com IN 3-D, in your face! Actually read the script for BURST a few months back. With some tweaking, it could be a lot of fun.

And a movie about people exploding? It just screams 3D.

Personally, i think the future of film is in 3D. Even if you don't have things coming out of the screen at you, it's just like uber high definition. UP was an amazing spectacle and just as good in 2D because they played it more for depth than "im coming ouuuuuut at you" kind of moments. Its just how cinema is going, and im behind it 100%.

And hey, it beats holograms, don't it?

I don't know - this director has a sketchy track record. He is not eager enough either. He will not make the most of what he's been given. Too bad but this will not be as good as it could be in the hands of someone willing to do the work and research to get it right.

Looks like Marshall finally got his foot in the Hollywood Door.
It's been a long time coming. Let's just hope that it's better than Doomsday.

Doomsday = Really Sucky
