Let the Right One In Remake Rolls Cameras

Here we go... Overture Films and Hammer Films announced cameras are officially rolling on Let Me In, an American remake of Tomas Alfredson's Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In and a new take on the novel "Lat den Ratte Komma In," by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist,

Writer-director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is lensing in New Mexico with young stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Chloe Moretz ((500) Days of Summer) were among those on-set as filming commenced at Albuquerque Studios.

McPhee will play the alienated 12-year-old boy who befriends a mysterious young newcomer (*cough* vampire *cough*), played by Moretz, in his small New Mexico town and discovers an "unconventional path to adulthood."

The filmmakers note that while the new film will pay respect to the original Swedish version, they intend to forge a unique identity for Let Me In, placing it firmly in an American context.

"This project is very personal to Matt as it is to the many passionate fans of the original story," says Simon Oakes, President and CEO of Hammer Films. "The brilliance of that story deserves to be seen by audiences on a wide scale and we are excited that the pieces are in place to make that a reality."

Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese, Richard Jenkins also star.

F-that. Rather see the Swedish version.

One thing I don't like about being an America (it's really the only thing)... We don't get enough foreign films advertised here.
I mean.. we force feed our films on to every major screen in the WORLD.. but where's the love?
Do distributors really think that we're so pig-headed here we don't want to see the latest foreign horror film? or suspense? or action? Or romance??
We like french fries, too!!!

kind of reminds me of what they did with the ring or the grudge.

i just hope they dont make it too american.
by that i mean intended for idiots, but i enjoyed cloverfield. ill go see it.

Won't see this, this remake is made for bad reasons, a foreign movie doesn't have to be remade to be enjoyed by a large audience ! It's kinda racist actually, a good movie is a good movie no matter what !
It's a complete brainwash from Hollywood to the audience, in India they remade more movies than Hollywood could ever do but they don't release them all over the world as if only their vision mattered, we must not accept this so easily...

When they say they're contexualizing it for an American audience that means they're dumbing it down and dumping the original films ending.

Honestly I think the reasons they are remaking it here is cause I most people anymore don't have the patience to read subtitles threw the who movie even though there is an English version out there and I know there definitely would be one scene cut from the release here, which I highly bet if the foreign version does get released here it will be cut no doubt about it is (SPOILER ALERT!) when the boy in the film sneaks a peek of the young vampire girl with her underwear down. Not many people would appreciate that scene. I know it caught me off gaurd. I just sat there going.. "I can't believe they showed that."

Yay! Hollycrap does it again by wasting $$$$$$$ on an awesome, original vampire movie. Wake up fools!!!! Stop remaking movies and get better movie script writers hired to write new S#@t for once!!!!!!

You can find the original on DVD. It's really good but I probably wouldn't purchase it. A good rental. :)
