Resident Evil: Franchise Future & Fifth Installment

When director Paul W.S. Anderson announced over the summer that he was in pre-production on Resident Evil: Afterlife - the fourth chapter in the franchise starring Milla Jovovich - this site was the first to talk to him about his creative plans. We not only learned he was going to shoot the sequel in 3-D, but the story was to begin a new story arc to carry on a new trilogy.

Reports elsewhere claimed it was going to "reboot" the series, but producer Jeremy Bolt doesn't think that's the right word to use. "Yes, we are hoping [we can get the new characters seen in Afterlife back], that would be a dream to have another three [films]," he said during this writer's recent visit to the Afterlife set. "I'm glad [Paul] is talking like that. Either he'd have to direct them or we'll have to find directors on his level. It's tough. But I hope that we can make a few more and his creative brilliance is essential to that. Every time we do it so if it is the last one we're very proud of it, but if it does well enough obviously we'll do another one."

Resident Evil: Afterlife - co-starring Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts and Spencer Locke - wraps shooting in Toronto, Canada in December. Screen Gems intends to release it August 27.

Dear Baby Jesus, I know you and I don't get along but please shut this Bolt guy up. For the last 2 days all it seems hes doing is talking and he's mostly just talking about one movie.

Yes, Baby Jesus, I know Mila Jovovich is talking a lot too but shes at least not talking about ruining Castlevania or Metal Gear Solid. I'm sure, given the evidence, you agree this guy needs to shut his face.

Thank you.

I would prefer a reboot after this one! Let someone else take the reins.

Actually accurate basing on one of the games....maybe Resident Evil 2 set in Racoon City. Following Leon and Claire [not with Ali Larter though, hate her casting]. Maybe work Barry Burton in one way or another.

I would watch that!

These fckers need to stop. They're making the dumbest films imaginable. They've destroyed the source material for teeniebopper action. I hope this one bombs. And also they all get cancer, two hopes. But the later one would pretty much solve both problems.

well it's ridiculous to not want to put Leon in the mix for crying out loud. RE4 was the top selling resident evil game so it would only be logical to have the star of that game be in one of the movies along with Chris Redfield set in Alaska!!! since they aren't following the story line anyways.

creative brilliance!? what a crock of ****! Andersen's a tool and ****ed resident evil fans from ever getting an authentic movie. **** him and **** the pieces of **** that keep hiring his worthless and terrible film maker ass! he says he knows the whole resident evil universe by heart. either he's lying his ass off or he just doesn't think the source material from the games deserves to be recognized. put a real filmmaker on the new movies god damnit!

Okay guys, we get that some don't like the RE Films.. Whatever, we all are entitled to our opinions, right?

But when you start wishing for people to get "cancer", now you are become c*nts... okay? What the actual fu*k is that about? Sure, you might think they are rubbish, whatever, but if you are hoping they get a disease... Well lets just hope what goes around doesn't come around..

These movies are horrible. The source material for the games is great. Fantastic story with memorable and likeable characters. So........why is it that hollywood refuses to use source material over and over? Don't even get me started on Castlevania! I read the proposed script outline for that piece of $**t! If Paul W.S. Anderson films this steaming pile, I'll puke. He is as bad as Uwe Boll!
