The Howling: Reborn Officially Announced

Source:Variety
November 23, 2009

Reconfirming what we reported here from the AFM last month, Variety has officially announced that indie producers Joel Kastelberg and Moonstone Entertainment's Etchie Stroh are re-launching the Howling werewolf franchise with The Howling: Reborn. Also as stated in our previous post, former studio marketing exec Joe Nimziki, who worked at New Line, MGM and Sony, will make his feature directorial debut from his own script.

Shooting is expected to begin in February with an October, Halloween release for 2010. While plot details are being kept under wraps, we can assume that the story will follow Joe Dante's original 1981 flick, which launched the franchise and went on to spawn six sequels. Dee Wallace-Stone starred as a news anchor stalked by a serial killer who turns out to be a werewolf.

Steve Lane and Bob Pringle, who served as exec producers on the original, will also exec produce The Howling: Reborn.

Was never really much of a fan of the Howling. Was always more into An American Werewolf in London.

A remake could be good if it's well done, but we all know it won't be. History has proven that.

if they use werewolf fx like underworld and not like the wolf dogs of new moon it has a chance. al they have to do is make the audience jump out of their seats and the dollars will roll in.
