Nimrod Antal Speaks Out About Predators
November 28, 2009
Promoting the release of the action film
Armored, director Nimrod Antal spoke to our brother site ComingSoon.net about the anticipated
Predators, produced by Robert Rodriguez (
Sin City).
Antal touched on a number of subjects, from taking on the project to his preference for practical effects (created by the team at KNB EFX). One snippet from the CS interview we found interesting was his take on the casting. Fans of the
Predator raised an eyebrow when Adrien Brody and Topher Grace hopped aboard.
"Let me tell you, I was so much of a fan that I stood in line when I was 14 and I had the poster on my wall. I was a huge fan," he said.
"Again, it was a challenge in finding a balance. I think when we cast Adrien, there were a lot of people going, 'What?' but at the same time, if we cast a Vin Diesel in that role or if we cast anyone who is Arnold-esque, we would have been attacked for doing that. So we decided early on to go in a very different direction as far as the casting process, but it turned out fantastic. He plays a mercenary in the film and if you look at the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan today, they're not 'yolked- out' Schwarzenegger-looking guys. They're all very wiry and thin guys, and I think it's going to play well."

Topher Grace????????????? Wow this will be bad, does anyone in Hollywood have their head out of their a$$?

Wow, you have taste mramerica, comparing Adrian Brody to Topher Grace. Go watch New Moon and leave well planned films alone.

Both Adrien Brody and Topher Grace are in the movie.
But so are Danny Trejo, Derek Mears and The Sheild's Walton Goggins.
So considering we know nothing about the plot details of the movie yet, let's hold off our judgments on the cast until we see a trailer or some footage.

Read the script recently, and both Brody and Grace are well cast. Keep in mind that Grace is not playing a tough guy, but a unbalanced, phobia-ridden, Dockers and loafer wearing sociopath with a mind for strange trivia. And Brody should play the hell out of his very cool character.

robg, i was misinformed on cast, i didnt know Topher Grace was in, but nontheless, I have the script, and its everything ANY Predator fan from back in the day could ask for.

I'm more bothered by Brody's support for the man who drugged and raped a 13 year old girl- Roman Polanski- than I am about his physique.
I had been looking forward to seeing this- but they won't be getting a penny of my money.
BTW, anyone find it a little amusing that the director of a film about a team of mercenaries landing on an alien world inhabited by a technologically advanced species dedicated to hunting is worried about the realism of his lead actor's build?
Posted by: Nunya on November 30, 2009 at 02:57:03
No, what's so amusing about that? Why do we need to cast muscle heads in parts like this when there are hardly any good muscle bound actors anyway? And it's not the 80's anymore; we don't need that ****. And your talking two different forms of realism anyway.

"Wow, you have taste mramerica, comparing Adrian Brody to Topher Grace. Go watch New Moon and leave well planned films alone." Haven't seen Twilight sorry, is that you're way of insult? Is Twilight no longer "kewl" to you d-bags?
By the way, when did I compare the two? is reading comprehension no longer taught in public schools?
Posted by: Derek on November 30, 2009 at 13:41:58
I already cleared that I misread your crap. The whole Twilight thing does seem to be quite an insult these days, judging by its ridiculous overactive fanbase, and to tie that to the fact that opening week these idiots broke The Dark Knight's run. But I'm smart enough to stay away from that crap, I have to wait another 2 weeks yet before I can go see The Road because of it's just insane at the cinemas.
As for your public school bull, I won't even have to go into detail for that, as I already fixed what I read and wrote. So quick to assume a talkbacker is in school.

Oh, so you replied with a smart a$$ comment without having read what was being said, how unusual. Good job!
