Alien Quadrilogy Blu-Ray to "Blow Fans Away"

December 14, 2009

A small update on Fox Home Entertainment's forthcoming Blu-Ray release of the Alien Quadrilogy set featuring all four films in the franchise.

In a recent L.A. Times interview, actress Sigourney Weaver revealed she was sitting down to record brand new commentaries for every entry.

Furthermore, The Digital Bits learned that we can expect to see the new set in mid-to-late 2010 with "TONS of new material [that] has been added as well exclusively for the Blu-ray release."

& I WILL NOT whaste my money on this boxed set I did that with the DVD Boxed set only to find them cheeper down the line & ALONE no box I spent 100 bucks on the Quadrilogy now I can get them for less then HALF that & on Blu-Ray FOR F***ING GET ABOUT IT you will spend over 150 bucks on 4 movies for what 8 extra mins? I LOVE ALIEN & ALIENS the other two were plain ass crap the director of Alien 3 just totaly ass F***ED us with that movie. & the directors cut was total horse **** half the time you cant hear jack **** the rest makes NO F'n sence what so ever. They should have stoped after Aliens

I agree with Evil L. I'm not spending more money yet again with another release of a franchise that made four films when only two were any good.

I'm not rebuying it either, I love this set to death but damnit, i have bills too. Cheers though ill find it for cheap on ebay in a few years. =)

I really don't get why people get so angry when something gets re-released. The option is there to buy it if you don't want it...then don't get it...pretty simple just move on with your life. I also SERIOUSLY doubt it will be over $100. It will probably debut on Amazon.com for like $79.99.

A quick point : "Tonnes of new material" doesn't refer to expanding the movies any more... Each film has already been released in pretty much the longest form possible given the surviving cut footage.

What WILL be included in this set is more behind-the-scenes stuff, vintage and recent... Loads more photos than have ever been available to the public, and a load of documentary footage.

Fans of the film will love it - And anyway, would you rather they just rereleased the DVD material on Blu-Ray?
If they'd done that, everyone would be complaining "I'm not buying that again! I already HAVE it all!"

I admit I was annoyed at having to doubledip the Legacy/Quadrilogy sets - then again, the Legacy set had totally different extras than the Quadrilogy, and the Quad really went all-out.

I love Bluray, and am far happier with this deal than simply getting the movie in HD with the same old extras...

I've seen some of the documantary footage from this and it looks great...I'll be buying a bluray just for this boxset.

Posted by: Evil L on December 15, 2009 at 00:47:52

I'm not saying DON'T buy it I'm just stateing I wont be buying it I already own all 4 on DVD so why would I want them in Blu-Ray? I'm sure there are some die hard fans for all 4 movies that have them on VHS, Laser Disc, DVD & soon on Blu-Ray thats just not me & I'm sure this is a good way to get new fans into it & I'm all for it but I just wont be buying the box set That I already have what are they gonna have new interviews with the actors, Directors & Writers? I mean on ALIENS James Cameron phoned in his interview for the DVD what he could not take 5 mins out of his life from making those crapy ass documentrys to get on film for the fans? after all if it was not for US fans he would not be making movies.

I'd like to see a version of Alien 3 with finished graphics, but I don't see that happening :[ That one is like my favorite.

Posted by: Scapegoat on December 15, 2009 at 04:02:21

Plenty of folk would buy the movies again on Bluray just to have the hidef transfers... So I think Fox are going above and beyond the call of duty by putting together such a good package.
They've been in touch with a lot of fans to gather as much "lost" material as possible, as well as the aforementioned new documentaries ( Which are awesome :) ).

Gotta disagree with you on Cameron's documentaries as well, the man's produced some absolutely mindblowing footage with the cash he made from Titanic ;)

Evil L: you obviously don't own a Blu-ray player and are not much of a fan of the Alien series. The difference between DVD and Blu-ray is phenomenal. It's so realistic it's flabbergasting. So quit whining. I own the quadrilogy set and will definitely be purchasing the quad again on Blu-ray. It'll be $80 well spent; and yes, it will only cost about $80, not $150. Maybe you will find it for $150 if you buy Blu-rays some place stupid like Target. For example, Planet Earth on Blu-ray at Target is still like $85 and on Amazon.com it is $30. Shop smart.

Evil L.....I have come to the conclusion that you have NO ****ing idea what you are talking about. Seriously...just shut the **** up dude. Alien 3 was a great film and it WAS NOT the directors fault. You saying that simple goes to show you dont have a ****ing clue.

FOX ****ed up that movie....not Fincher. He came on to director before there was even a finished script!!!! The movie started production before there was a story basically and the story got shifted around 3 times! Absolutely NOTHING to do with Fincher. On top of that, FOX gave it a **** budget and kept making Fincher do last minute changes to the film which ****ed it up even more. The deleted scenes suck before they are very ROUGH cuts....almost no audio. Basically just one scene....not like a lot of deleted scenes are these days. Get a life dude....you call yourself an Alien fan yet you bash what was actually a very good film if you knew what it was supposed to be.

I own the DVD Quad and you know what? I will buy the Blu Ray Quad as well while you sit in the corner and ***** and cry I will be watching all the movies in HD with phenominal sound. So again...eat a dick dude cause you have NO idea whats coming out of your mouth.

Posted by: jd on March 6, 2010 at 19:51:28

matt no need to get offended by evil l's comment theres no need to backlash at someones opinion of a movie that you didnt even make, if you made that movie then go ahead, otherwise you just sound like some lazy bugger with his dick hanging out of your pants in your mothers basement, when you should be going outside getting some poontang. You get what im saying? no need to reply cause i wont be here to respond i got other **** to do peace.

well ill be getting this as fast as i can when it comes out even if i have to punch through 36 peoples heads at the store :) anyone who is a True Fan Of The Films wont ***** and moan about this spectacular release :) every time i watch my old DVDs im hoping they will come out with the blue-rays so i can enjoy these awesome movies in the unparalleled brilliance of High Definition POWER on my 50 inch awesome screen LCD >:] so shut your mouths if you have anything but praise for this release. so dont disgrace yourself and try to come off as a fan when you complain about it. its your fault if you dont have the money for the release whether it be 150$ or ****ing 100000000000$ ill fork over the cash even if i have to rob a goddamned BANK ;)

Posted by: dav on July 25, 2010 at 07:22:30

$126 for the set of four. no thanks. i'll wait till they are released independent of the set, and the price comes down to under $25/each.

1. it is ridiculous that the extra crap is exclusive to Blue ray
2. It really doesn't matter though because there is now way i am rebuying this set. Besides only the first two aree worth a toss in my eye.
