Triple casting scoop tonight for the upcoming third season of HBO's True Blood, which began production a few weeks back.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Tudors star James Frain has just been cast in the heavily recurring role of Franklin Mott, Tara’s over-protective vampire squeeze. His character debuts in the second episode of the new season.
Franklin, a character that appears in Charlaine Harris' original Sookie Stackhouse books is described as a tall, dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an “immediate and torrid” connection to Tara.
Also, The Hollywood Reporter says Emmy-winning actress Alfre Woodard has been tapped to guest star as the mother of Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis), the cook at Merlotte's who got busted for selling vampire blood and held captive and tortured by Eric (Alexander Skarsgard).
Lastly, EW's Ausiello Files revealed that Law & Order alum actress J. Smith-Cameron is set to play the recurring role of Sam’s estranged mother, Melinda.
Other additions this season include Marshall Allman, Theo Alexander, Grant Bowler and Nelsan Ellis. True Blood stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell and Rutina Wesley.
