Hollywood Wants to Ride With Darksiders?

This has horror potential. After all, it's set during the apocalypse.
It seems the upcoming video game Darksiders is exploring its options in other mediums. Vigil's Joe Madureira (creative director, comic book vet) told VG247: "We've gotten some interest from Hollywood, we've talked about doing a comic series. At least a couple of those things have to happen, I'm sure."
A comic book seems more realistic. A film? That might be a big undertaking. You see, the game is set in the wake of the apocalypse. You play one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse - War - who traverses across a scorched earth. So this tale sounds rather expensive to pull off.
Darksiders hit stores yesterday.

FIRST...hehe..
anyways...Darksiders has a kickass look to it and the story seems cool but i dont think a movie can be pulled off unless it's in CG or animated. Joe Mad is an awsome artist and his style is mostly the reason this game is so cool.

i just saw the commercial for this game and i was like "holy $hit, this looks cool" (and i'm not even a gamer!). if they make this into a movie, consider me SO in!

From what I understand the game is sorta average as far as games go: Does a lot of things that a lot of other games do but doesn't really do those things great or innovate. The story however seems like it shines which makes a movie seem like a good idea to me. I think they could get away with a movie if they don't do stick to the hero being all bulky like he is in the game, unless they do an animated movie of course.
And I wouldn't exactly say that doing a movie would sound expensive to pull off. Look at comic book movies, they pour millions into those and maybe, optimistically, half of them come out well, but they all pretty much pull in cash. I don't think a movie based on this game will be any different, though it would probably be better to keep from saying it was a game at all since I'm sure that will just alienate MOST non-gamers from seeing it. Keeping it a genre neutral apocalyptic action flick with a really cool look will pull in more people. I can imagine Zach Snyder directing with ubi-softs visual company (who did the visuals for 300) doing the effects.
