"You have to have FAITH for that to work...Misssster Vinccccent, remember?" spits vampire Jerry Dandrige in the face of a holy cross held by Peter Vincent in Tom Holland's Fright Night. And, for this rabid "Night" fan, faith is something I've held onto during these dark days of Hollywood remakes. Faith that the Fright Night property would go untouched. Un-"remade."

This is HORRIBLE, taking remakes in a all new direction is the worst thing anyone can do. They are commiting Film murder here.
Why do they have to ruin good classic horror movies with pathetic remakes!

And don't forget the worst possible things about the "Fright Night" remake. Tobe Hooper's "Funhouse" is being remade and called "Fright Night". So, technically, the movie remade here wouldn't be "Fright Night" but "Funhouse" but there might be plagiarism on the part of Screen Gems since they're stealing just the title here.

Why not make a remake with the old players of fright night?
Seems to me this could be a breakthrough, for all boys and girls who loved frightnight with all its players from the 80's.
Think about it, so many girls and boys had a "crush" on one ore more charactars who played in that film then.
How would it be, to see the same players from then, acting their way through a remake of fright night?
My opinion? The only way to make a good remake of fright night!!

looking forward to the remake...memorable moments in the original included the laid back and unassuming premise / character of dandridge...
strong attention to the visual direction and arrangement of set pieces particularly the night club and the climax...
script was also very intelligent relationship of dandridge and women...
strong attention to the detail of how he appears both human at the start and goulish towards the end...
clever use also of the blend of scenes particularly the music and dread of the young characters death adds a serious dimension...
recently watched the fly(86)which again has strong similarities in structure and loss of life....
perhaps the remake should be engineered with also a scientific element i.e bringing in a special agent to help defeat the vampire which in the remake undergoes more unassuming /complicated transformations to advance the story in a more closed way... special effects at the end of the original were particularly strong almost a kind of biblical quality to the vampires demise...could the costume designer look at way of strenghtening the size of the actors...also could props that are not used in aspecific way bedesigned to stand out more to create a detective/mystery quality to the movie...
an amusement park could be interesting why no connect it to the back of the house...perhaps as a replacement element to the club in the original in a similar way to a mememorable moment in the original dracula movie (1992) - which had particularly high production throughout...allso why no have bit of disturbing history as backdrop to give more insight into the real nature of vampires whether they exist...this could be filmed in balck and white...
interestingly the poster of the original is very striking the graphics of the vampires faces are very memorable could this facial element be encoroporated into one of the visual faces of the Dandridges face prospetics?
perhaps more care could also be taken in terms of how the vampire seduces women...
could a female female be introduced to make Dandridge more sympathetic ... to make the allure of women more interesting in the movie...
the use of the camera to glide over in certain scenes to show the vampire in flight / to show a special scene i.e. secret staircase overview? the camera glides down the rail to show the vampire in a particular way i.e vampire also glides down the stairs...
could an element of survival also be implemented to amplify more anticipatory elements i.e a cut scene between a ghoul and a phantom...
Should the producers also consider bringing back Sarandon or someone of similar age with serious acting credientials...
in recent years richard gere in primal fear (1996) illustrated how confortable he was in a unusual adult role... could he be another potential actor to take on the dandridge role...

fright night remains one of the best movies of its type...it is special in a number of ways...
originality...unassuming premise...well designed sets and effects
dandridge is both charismatic and dangerous...sharp script.
hence it is the combined aspects of his character which add weight to the second part of the movie...also like the club scene music is used well to enhance the dance scene in an intelligent way..
unlike other vampire movies ie dracula 1992 this movie takes aspects of the this area into different realms in particular having evil ed change after being bitten this is quite a disturbing undertone unexpected and acts as a strong secondary aspect to the movie second part...haunted mansion is also well done ref climax inside...
to improve this movie will be tough .i would be looking at developing connective aspects of the original like the interors of charlies house the relationship between dandridge and charlies mother in the original is not fully shown she just invites him for a drink...
could a developed aspect work around a dream she wakes up from involving dandridge which is directed in a live way to confuse the audience?
also as charlie enjoys movies could we have him leaving a local theatre one night where amy walks past a cemetary then in a reference to thriller is shown an insight into the tomb of the undead?
perhaps the producers should review mj thriller to see if a similar attraction element could be develped ie ghost train from the cemetary takes charlie and amy to a remote theme park on a cliff side or a small island...
the cliff side could be used to develop a special moment where we see dandridge bolt up in the air over water after a showdown with a peter vincent?
for the movie should vincent be more equiped like va helsing i e more like a magician magicians hat bag to throw smoke so he can escape dandridge becasue dandridge is bigger and faster in the remake?should the producers be looking at ian mckellen for the part of pv?
should paramount studios be looking to shape the sequal in partnership with sony?...the ending of last crusade 89 showed how internal location traps and bodies could be used in a hidden way to add forebodding...a dynamic could involve dandridge personal involvement with chrlies mother who happens to go the other side to become dandridges assistant..then promote a sense of danger as charlie has to complete 3 dangerous tasks in order to escape...tasks could be imaginary...move mirrors...resist temptation... dream sequence under spell...overcome the unknown - has to guess who the real vampire is when confronted with several...
recently saw from dusk to dawn again 96 good movie. should the producers be looking at ways to promote a better distinction between internal location and the outside for exampe the original shows streets but the director keeps it tight should the remake show more content ie use the camera from above more..also to make the openingas unassuming as possible ie to show scenes where the camera is fused ie lakeside then cut to forest... local cemetary surrounding area to show that this location is as ordinary as possible...
saw stephen kings it' 86 recently should dandridge be more like a clown...
know certain secrets etc about the characters should the producers use a railing system so he can glide rather then appearing to walk...
should he have a violet glow ghost 1990 showed tht can work and is credible could should emotion...
to make the movie as authentic as possible should a black and white element be used to disguise or play down moments- ie a flashback to feed historical information to the presentation phantom of the opera recent version showed how clever set intracacies can promote longer periods often more enjoyable viewing could dandrige identity be adjusted as the movie goes on like in the fly 86 ie to show spirtual awakenings...
glow grows wings would be a bold way of doing this also to a have a biblical dimension i.e a dig went wrong thousands of years ago a young dandridge got trapped and became a vampire over a 3 year period(had to servive in the pyramids of egypt) this would give audiences more connectivity with the character and also add some serious weight to audiences perception challenge beliefs on whether vampires exist or not...
a scene chould involve dandridge driving a car to escape from peter vincent early in the film.
in t3 good scene invloved some tension as did bodyguard 1992 where coster runs after assaliant...
dandridge could be show to glide run if the camera is used in the right way...script wise should the producers be looking at the sharp one liners developing these into actual connecting scenes for example...i can drop round anytime i feel like it.. also should peter vincent also be a preist in the new remake?should a special scene involve dandridge becoming invisable in a private scene with amy in her bedroom to give a new quaility to how audiences perceive dandrige special effect could be deployed in his eyes a special scene could involve an attempted assassination dandridge is not hurt at all at it later revealed he is bullet proof eyes give off a orange glow or special secene where not everyone in the room knows he is a vampire because not everyone can see him...special balcony scene where he is able to transforms to become a person in the club that he sees for only a few seconds then is able to squeeze trough the gap which he otherwise would be able to...hense in this movie he can avoid confrontation to escape or get past people in a more kinetic way?

This doesn't sound like a good way to go. Frankly, I prefer the studios to release these movies as sequels, rather than "remakes". At least that way, if it turns out bad, it could just be a crummy sequel (and we all know some horror films have had their fair share of those)rather than tarnishing the vision of the original movie. If it turns out to be good, well, then its just an awesome sequel.
Some of these "remakes" shouldn't even have the same name as the original film..."April Fool's Day" was a prime example of that.

I agree with 80pork. If you want an association with the original, make a sequel. The new Motel Hell should be A Return to Motel Hell... Very easy to do!

Why bother calling it Fright Night? I don't understand these writers etc that do adaptations. If you are going to change the story so much which means you have to be 'creative' to do it, why not be just a tad more creative and come up with different characters names and title? Sheesh, is Hollywood a magnet for idiots?

You guys have to understand by moving in a different direction the remake wont be close to "Disturbia" which was a remake of "Rear Window" which is what Fright Night actually is too. But with vampires.
I would have hoped for a remake in a Apt. building but wherever the remake goes, I'm sure it'll be ****. Chit. However you type it.

I would'nt mind it if the orignal players were in the movie. I'd love to star with Chris Sarandon. Unfortunately, Ryan Phillip isn't the best actor. I see this going to be a disaster so a remake isn't a good idea.. I'd also agree with many other post that it should be a sequel!
