Update: Shaun of the Dead Leaps to Television?
Source: The Guardian
March 1, 2010
Update: Simon Pegg states via his Twitter account, "Contrary to reports there are no plans for a Shaun Of The Dead TV show. Thought you'd like to know." Okey-dokey. I guess Universal/Working Title don't know what they're talking about?
We might not see a sequel to Edgar Wright's horror-comedy Shaun of the Dead any time soon, but a television series is possible.
NBC Universal and the recently launched television division Working Title in the UK are eyeing a number of films to develop for the small screen. Shaun of the Dead is one property being considered.
Both entities assert that the deal to do a Shaun series, and the other titles they have in the works (including Bridget Jones and Four Weddings and a Funeral), is still early and there are many "hurdles" to overcome. The series would be geared for U.S. viewers.
For more, read on. Is Shaun right for television? Possibly. I presume they'd either pick up where the film left off or re-introduce the film in some way to get audiences up to speed.

Why? The movie sucked big time!!!! It's one of the most overrated movie I've ever seen in my life.Zombieland was much better!!!!!!!!!

Without the cast it would suck. If they could get the same cast as the movie, then I say go for it!!
I'm looking forward to The Walking Dead on AMC a lot more though.

LOL at the Nooooooo poster. Zombieland over Shaun of the Dead? I think not. Anyways, Simon Pegg confirmed on his twitter that this isn't happening. Problem solved.

Does Simon Pegg own any piece of this property? I'm just wondering if his word on this is definitive. To me, all this confirms is that he is not involved in it. The studio, in their infinite and greedy wisdom, may still be able t go ahead if they wish. All the same, I agree that without him and the rest of the original cast, it would be pretty lame. And can't imagine this being an ongoing series anyway.

if they made it a comedic (more so) version of DEAD SET (w/ the gore and stuff) it'd be freaking awesome but 1.it's be neutered horribly by censors and 2.Simon posted it ain't happenin'.

"NOOOOOOO" your so ****ing stupid, yes zombieland was a great movie but Shaun of the Dead will always be its superior. Plus where do you think they got the whole buddy zombie movie concept from??? If it wasnt for shaun of the dead zombieland wouldnt exist right now.

The Steve is right, studios are notorious for doing whatever they want with their property.
Zombieland doesn't begin to compare to Shaun Of The Dead. But Return otld was the original zomedy.

I support the idea of just _pretending_ to make a TV series continuation of Shaun of the Dead, while essentially just making a new series of Spaced.
I'm serious. Call the series Shaun of the Dead, but cure Frost of zombie-ism between the movie and the series, get Hynes to move in with Pegg to save money. Absolutely no zombies can appear in the series except in flashback, and the plot point of the episode(s) that contain the flashbacks should hang on something very trivial that just happens to be in the same room as the angry flesh eating zombies, like maybe the watch one of them is wearing being awesome.
Don't even allow a character to use the word "zombie" in the present.
Seriously. Do this.

So basically, not only are Hollywood studios unable to come up with original ideas but television stations are short on them too.
Why even bother complaining?

Only if The movies Actors will be in it & thats doubtful since they're all moving on to major motion pictures now & recasting wont be the same. Like Tv Series Spaced was Awesome & remaking it in America was a TERRIBLE idea, although will sasso was a dead on idea for the role of mike
