EXCL: Who's Writing & Directing Quarantine 2?
Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
March 9, 2010
Like its Spanish counterpart, Rec, Screen Gems' Quarantine left the door wide open for a sequel. Sure enough, Sony's specialty division that dabbles often in the horror field is moving ahead on Quarantine 2.After combing Hollywood for pitches, Screen Gems has hired John Pogue to write and direct.
Pogue penned U.S. Marshals, the 1998 follow-up to The Fugitive, and all three entries in The Skulls series for Universal. Dark Castle tapped him to write Ghost Ship which opened in 2002.
Word is, Pogue is taking Quarantine out of the doomed tenement stricken with a vicious virus and setting the sequel in an airport. So, yes, it will be a departure from Rec 2 which picked up minutes after the events in Rec.
Quarantine 2 is being geared for direct-to-DVD, but as they say, anything can happen. Perhaps it will wind up theatrical. Quarantine grossed $41 million worldwide when it opened in 2008.

I liked both Rec and Quarantine equally. I don't have a preference but I do hope that Rec 2 and Quarantine 2 both do their own things this time. It'll be cool to see where different writers take basically the same story from there.

Haven't seen Quarantine, owned it for months but I own about 50 DVDs I've yet to watch...I did like U.S. Marshals, Ghost Ship and the first Skulls movie so...might not be too bad.

Finally caught REC 2 the other day (thank you internet) I was disappointed in the direction they went. I thought Quarentine was completely unneeded but look forward to Q2 in hopes that they don't follow "aspects" from Rec 2.

i'm up for this! REC 2 (currently leaked online..DVD RIP w/ English subs!) was jarring at first (it OVERTLY combines a couple of sub-genres in the horror genre..i don't want to spoil anything) but the more i watched it (3 times!) the more i LOVE the new direction REC 2 goes in. it's original and refreshing for the zombie/infection sub-genre. and i'm REALLY glad that Q2 is going to stay(?) with the infection thing. i thought it was going in to theaters though (i guess i missed the news article on this site!). oh, and the airport setting reminds me of RE:DEGENERATION's airport/zombie setting in a great way!

Badbadbad... VERY BAD.
"Word is, Pogue is taking Quarantine out of the doomed tenement stricken with a vicious virus and setting the sequel in an airport."
The point is that Quarantine is a direct translation of REC... Just do the remake of REC2.
If Pogue wants to do a REC/Quarantine like film set in an airport... Don't call it Quarantine 2. Or just do the translation film and then an original Quarantine 3 with his airport setting.
I have to say, US Marshals was bad... Ghost Ship was horrible... And Skulls 1 was the only one that was any good.

Maybe Zack Snyder Or Michael Dougherty for Quarantine 2

shocking_stuff why do you need a remake when a dubbed version will do? This way we get 2 movies instead of one.

its safe to say that rec takes a more religious tour then quarantine. First one did and i recently saw the 2nd rec and i can tell u there course is more religious then quarantine's. And i enjoy both rec and quarantine. 2nd rec was ok, so lets see wat quarantine 2 brings
