Writer Patrick Melton Talks Saw VII
Source:Dread Central
March 15, 2010
Dread Central's Sean Decker just had a lengthy chat with Saw VII co-writer Patrick Melton and was able to squeeze out a few details on the approach for the latest chapter in the franchise, which just happens to be in 3D.
"In this one we have bigger traps and more traps and more characters," explains Melton. "Especially characters from the past (films) – than we’ve had in probably any other Saw movie. It’s definitely the most expensive and ambitious Saw movie that we’ve done. Some of it is in response to last year’s Saw VI, which, while being the most critically acclaimed Saw film in a while, didn’t do particularly as well (at the box office) as everyone would have hoped, so we are going pretty far with this one in terms of the scale and intensity of the traps and the amount of twists, especially into the third act, which is just a plethora of twists and reveals."
"If we end it with this one," he continues, "then the entire franchise and story will be wrapped up in a nice pretty package."
You can read more with Melton on Saw VII director Kevin Greutert, catering to the 3D format, first details on a potential The Collector 2, and much, much more all right here.

yeah they said everything will be cleared up in saw vi and while i did enjoy it (moreso the insurance company stuff than the actual traps) i still think he's pulling our legs with this, its exactly what they said before vi came out

AT ONE POINT IN TIME I FOUND INTERNET SITES THAT SAID THAT SAW III WAS GOING TO END IT LAST YEAR THIS TIME I FOUND INTERNET SITES THAT SAID THAT SAW VI WAS GOING TO END IT AS OF RIGHT NOW I DO NOT BELIEVE SAW VII WILL END IT.

@ I DO NOT
Making your comments in all-caps doesn't make it any more important...nor accurate.
The plan was never to end it with Saw III. There were many storylines that they left open on purpose, that they followed up with Saw IV.
Saw VI wasn't going to be the final Saw either. Did you see the ending? Major cliffhanger, man.
But, I do believe Saw VII can end it. Because financially, Saw VI didn't do as well as they wanted, and shows the series is on limited time. It can't last much longer, and they know it. So they're gonna try to wrap it up nicely
Now on my own comments...I really hope they make it the best Saw yet. Saw VI was my favorite of the series, so I really think they can do this. Especially with the last one, I feel like they have it all planned out.
And @ Half Animal, if you're worried about the people getting out of the traps, after they've already survived it, then you really weren't paying attention to the point, were you?? Dang. Get your focus right.
