The Host 2 - A Prequel?

Source:Sci-Fi Japan
December 21, 2007

A sequel to the Korean import The Host is comin' at ya. Just don't expect original director Bong Joon-ho to return. The original's producer, Choi Yong-bae, is forging ahead nonetheless anticipating a follow-up to arrive in theaters in 2009.

In a Star News article, translated by Sci-Fi Japan, Choi says he has hired Korean comic book scribe Kang Full to write the script. A first draft was reportedly turned in yesterday.

The full plot is not yet known, but Choi did spill some beans— that the story is set in 2003 and takes place ’somewhere in Korea.’ One interesting thing of note is that the events of the original film took place in the summer of 2006. Will the sequel actually be a prequel? Will it be set in the same timeline as the original? Only time will tell.

Indeed. Shooting begins next summer with a budget of $10.9 million (U.S.).
