Not all people are. Some people know this so much they're steered clear of those remakes. As for this remake, I've heard that this movie wouldn't be like the original movie but the novel instead. If done right, Platinum Dunes can be forgiven for p*** off a lot of people with their annoucement of their intentions to make a remake of "Rosemary's Baby."

Hitchcock's is an adaptation of the book, not even faithful. Who cares if they make it? Serously

I agree with McWeenis. Even though I LOVE The Birds, I am looking forward to a remake, especially with our own Naomi, she's fantastic

this GARBAGE is not touching the original in anyway! end of story. If hollywood wants to remake horror flicks go back to the lost films and remake one that we can sadly no longer see.

Okay, Ryan. You obviously didn't get the point. This is another adaptation of the Daphne Du Maurier story. Hitchcocks was pretty good, but I have to say something was lacking. Granted I love most of Hitch's work and own probably fifteen of his films -- The Birds isn't one of them. They are also doing a reimagining of Strangers on a Train -- which, again, isn't a remake since the book and Hitch's movie are drastically different. I love the film, but I've read the book and it was very dark and interesting. You can hate on remakes all you want but you must understand the difference between a remake and just a different adaptation of previously existing work in another format.
No one is saying it will be BETTER or touch the original, because it will be inherently different. I like Naomi Watts. I like what Martin Campbell has done for the Bond series. I'll keep an open mind.

If ever Naomi Watts were to do it, there must be something there or a reason for her to be attached. Notwithstanding, she would make it a better film and that's for sure.

Hey Dan I get the point, and thats nice for you to keep an open mind, really it is, but personally we don't need another birds movie, its done period. What do you think was lacking from the film??????????
Posted by: Ryan on March 12, 2008 at 22:34:56
and when Did I say I hate all remakes, there are some very good remakes, but i will guarantee you, your not getting a different adaptation especially if its coming from Micheal Bay,sometimes a little is alot in a movie.

I mean I hate to put down Bay because I do like a few of his movies, but even though im dead set against the remake, I don't think he is the right guy for it.

Well if you watch the original it is kinda funny in parts. I watched it in a film history class and some people were laughing. I think if done right it could appeal to newer audiences. I'll wait to see a trailer... or the movie.
OMG see the movie then make up my mind. No way

Ryan, you are aware that Michael Bay is only producing and even then more than likely producing in-name-only on this project? I highly doubt Bay was around or deeply involved of any of the Platinum Dunes films that have been released thus far.
And I am against all of these remakes, even, but yeah, this is another adaptation of the book.

The Master has already made it. Let sleeping birds lie, I say.

Heheh... you guys need to do something about this censoring text thing, it won't even let people write Hitchcock!!
But yes, this film will be dot-dot-dot-dot. (There, saved you the trouble.) And Naomi Watts should know better. She's in danger of becoming the remake queen - AKA the female Mark Walhberg!!

Man, when they start remaking Hitchcock movies I know it must be "dry" in Hollywood. Still, "The Birds" just doesn't look that realistic anymore...so I guess an "update" won't kill me...but the directorial touches and intellegent screenplay of the original have not aged...let them realize that when they do this....Watts is a good idea for the lead...but they better pick a real good director...

^^^Director is Martin Campbell...as stated in the above article.

I find it hilarious how people get all worked up about these things. So what if it's a remake/re-imagining, sometimes classics loose their relevance to society and it's called for. Lets be grown ups and make informed decisions after it's made and released, that way those of you who think this is an abomination simply because hitchcock's version was the bestest ever since they invented sliced bread, well you'll actually be taken seriously in your arguments, rather than appearing like emo teens.
