Producer Talks Future of Twilight Franchise

ShockTillYouDrop.com recently ventured to the damp, nippy environs of Portland, Oregon where Catharine Hardwicke is barreling through a 45-day principal photography schedule for
Twilight (
blog entry), the live-action adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
As disciples of Meyer know,
Twilight is the first in a series of books - which includes "New Moon," "Eclipse" and the forthcoming entry "Breaking Dawn" - thus opening the door to a potential cinematic franchise. But will the first film's performance the weekend of December 12th dictate whether
New Moon gets the green light? Summit Entertainment and its producers may not even wait that long to find out.
Summit CEO Rob Friedman teases us with a confident smile,
"We're talking about it."
Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey takes that one step further with,
"The goal is, we've got the [sequel] script ready to go and come December we want to shoot it for about the same time - for the weather and stuff we don't want to be in the heat of the winter. Obviously, you know the next book and know we can go out into the sun a little bit more. Hopefully, we'll have it ready to go and ready to start prepping for the beginning of next year."
Much more to come from the set of
Twilight, including pics and a candid chat with the Cullen family!

lol, just don't forget about the occasional male who enjoys the series as well, I typically do not like anything to do with romance novels, but this series and Blood and Chocolate have blown my mind with how awesome and smart they can be.

All that being said. Summit is very prepared. However Stephenie Meyer has still NOT sold the rights to any sequels as of yet. And I do hope this one turns out to her liking so a deal can be met.
We look forward to your continued coverage for the target fan base.

Wow, Summit is gonna be surprised at how well the first movie will gain in profits, and should go ahead and start with the filming if they care to. I mean it'll happen anyway, so why not get a jump start on things. I hope everything goes well with both movies.

Extremely exciting how they are already planning for filming of the second movie!

Summit can't stop at just one movie. Just like Stephenie Meyer couldn't stop after just one book, neither can the readers. Summit just has to continue and make all 3, soon to be 4, books into movies. It's meant to be...

Well, that is just fan-bloody-tastic!
Even though New Moon wasn't my favorite out of the 3 novels (that being sad nicely)
I'm really looking forward to it, if considered.
Haha. Twilight is amazing!

Rockin my world, one day at a time. I just finished reading Twilight for the 2nd time, so, naturally, New Moon is next...lol...I'll probably read them at least once more before Breaking Dawn comes out...so I guess to catch up...I'll have to read Breaking Dawn three times in a row...lol

YESSSSS!!!! It is up to us fans to see to it that word of this movie gets out there. The more people that go to see it the better the chances that the next one will be a go.

So exciting that they're talking about New Moon already - I mean, Twilight works better as a franchise. It wouldn't have garnered such a big fanbase if it weren't for the sequels.
My only qualm with New Moon is that I hope they make Edward have a bigger role. Otherwise... bleh. (There you go, the secret to Twilight's success = Edward Cullen)

Wow Mr. Rotten, I am so impressed! Never read your stuff before, but you sure did your homework. Most Twilight news, written by non-twilighters, is inacurate and you can tell when the reporter doest't "get it". You totally get it! GREAT WORK, cant wait for the pics!
PS- not a teen, but I LOVE Gwen and Twilight :D
