Heavy Metal Plays on at Sony

According to Heavy Metal publisher, and TMNT founding father, Kevin Eastman, the latest Heavy Metal film incarnation has found a new studio to shelter it. In July, Paramount dropped the project - co-produced/directed by David Fincher - reportedly due to the subject matter. "Too risque" apparently.

But was there another reason? Eastman explains, "We developed it for Paramount in January... And it was time for them to make a decision [about going forward with the project] and they were at odds with Fincher over another project, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, [because] they wanted him to reduce the running time and so they said, Until you step up to do what we want you to do with Benjamin, we're not going to greenlight any other of [your] movies. And David said, Fine, f**k you, I'm going to set up [Heavy Metal] somewhere else,' so we jumped over to Sony and set it up there."

Eastman says production is expected to begin this fall and that Guillermo Del Toro and Zack Snyder have expressed interest in helming segments.

Ah man, Fincher is so damn cool! He is a true filmmaker with balls, and I cant wait to see Curious Case it looks amazing! I mean Paramount also thought ZODIAC was too long and that turned out great! Heavy Metal will be really great I bet, and it would be cool if Snyder and Del Toro made shorts for it!

I like Fincher, but im not sure about Heavy Metal. Just because we fanboys know who is making it does not mean box office. And that is what the bottom line is all about. Just look at Grindhouse, two good directors but a movie that died at the box office.

thats because GRINDHOUSE was 3 hours and 20 mins, this will probably be 2 hrs and something at the most.
