God dammit....

I expect nothing from this movie. Everything about it, the casting, the director, the effects all suck horribly. I like Rick Baker and Jack Pierces original design but i feel that with all the technology we have now, they could have done a better job with the make-up. I hate Del Toros casting, he's not right for the part and Joe Johnston is a sub-par director (Jurassic Park 3) who apparently doesnt know what he's doing...
"We've got our fingers crossed that this shift isn't due to the turbulent post-production process director Joe Johnston is slogging through. Sources tell us there's still indecisiveness over the Wolfman's transformation"
He should have figured that out months ago.
Have it set in the same time of the original, the 40's. Which as apposed to popular belief was the time setting, read the script online if you don't believe me. Del Toro seems like the kind of person who can easily tap into his animal side but they should have cast a more proper looking actor who doesnt seem out of place in a suit and tie like Edward Norton or Leo Dicaprio so when the transformation happens, it's a big change in character. The only good thing about this is Anthony Hopkins casting as the father. The pushing back of the release date make me feel more sure about these feelings than before.

^^^^^I agree. If they had done anything close to Van Helsing, I'd be pissed and would have to punt kick a couple of little kids til I felt better.

Damn, I was originally agreeing to Ryan's post.

Too late. You agree with me now.

Thank you. I'd like to add to what i said about the make-up. I want to make sure to say that i don't want a cgi werewolf but they could have done a better job on the make-up itself. I think the best word to describe my problem is i think it should have been "streamlined". I don't know why i want to use that word but i think the fur looks bushy and too fake. I would also liked to have seen atleast a hint of a snout. I don't want the werewolf from Van Helsing but just a small, very small snout. The only reason the original didnt have that is because they didnt have the ability to do it with the technology they had back then. They tried it but it didnt work. I have low expectations for this film and i'm not one of those remake haters.

I don't want to sound like an ass but when i have a problem with a movie it usually turns out bad. Everybody complained about Heath Ledger as the Joker but i thought he would do a great job and i was right. I'm not saying i have a sixth sense but i guess i've been lucky about this kind of thing and i've been right so far. If you had the chance you could ask my family and friends, they say it's creepy how often i'm right.

OK, now I agree with both of you. For me I think Benicio is a low risk/high reward situation. I mean he's a great actor and he's said before in previous interviews that he's a HUGE fan of the '41 Wolfman... what self-respecting movie fan isn't? So I think he'll really bring a lot of honor and respect to the role. I just hope that his excitement doesn't make him over-act. With the day and age we are in now, referring to Hollyweird, I think that they could have easily gone a hugely different route. As for Ed Norton as Talbot. That would have been great! BUT... he just played The Hulk which would have seemed awful, with him playing two parts of basically the same character. But, ico, I'm sure that wasn't your point. But this is good news that fans can almost have uncertainty about a sure-to-be blockbuster, even when it stars Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving. Even with Joe behind the lens, if he does a terrible movie starring those actors, then he should be frankly, kicked the **** out of LA! But it's a pity that an anticipated movie has to be pushed back almost a year from now, only because of a transformation scene. This could have been all resolved had they listened to Baker. They would had listened to Winston(I hope) they can at least listen to the reigning SFX king, Baker. An American Werewolf in London is a prime example: fast forward almost 3 decades and it's still considered one of the best - if not the best - transformation scene. Isn't that the reason they hired Baker in the first ****ing place? Van Helsing, Underworld, ANY movie that has a werewolf in it should take its goddamn time perfecting the werewolf with puppetry, because that is THE MAIN REASON WE ALL GO!

Jesus guys. Del Toro is a great actor, one of the best. Go watch Fear and Loathing to see that. That was an amazing transformation. He will do fine. The director of Jurassic Park...okay, I'll give you guys that one. What moron doesn't let Rick Baker see what is going on? If Baker is in charge of the transformation then me thinks he should be allowed to see what the hell is going on. With this kind of time however, they can do reshoots if they need to or add stuff to make it look better. So don't bash the make-up yet. He looks reminiscent of Chaney, and that is perfect. We have seen the over the top monster werewolf Soooooo many times now, this is refreshing. It will be up there as a classic remake behind Dracula and The Mummy (only the first one). Now we just need to get Deniro's flasher Frankenstein out of our heads and get the creature made and we will have all the classics updated!

I'm not saying he's a bad actor, all i mean is that he's not right for this part. Just look at my first post to see what i mean.

I just realized this is being released on my 23rd birthday. I don't know why i didnt notice it sooner.

hey ico nah man your not sounding like an ass. All Im saying is just wait at least until a commerial arrives for it and then we can get a better shot at it. To be honest with you Im still not happy that joe johnston made it. I wanted Mark Romanek to do this. Mark Romanek should get credit for this movie because he created the sets. He left the movie in great shape. Now im just hoping johnston kept the andrew kevin walker script and didn't completely rewrite everything. But I think they stuck to it, the only difference is that they added a few more gypsys and the dectective.

I usually do wait to see the trailer before i make any conclusions about a movie and it's rare for me to make these comments but hopefully this shows how little i expect anything from this movie. And once again i'm not saying Del Toro is a bad actor but he doesnt fit into this part. If i was directing this movie, he would have been last on my list.

And yes i was only using Ed Norton as an example, not because he's shown that he can do the transformations because of the Hulk but an actor like him who can seem like the last person who would rip your throat out. I'll probably will get some backlash from this but i think Leo Dicaprio would have been pretty good for this.
