Still without a title, George A. Romero's latest zombie film now has a promo trailer. You can watch it in the player below. Once again written and directed by Romero, the film stars Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe and Devon Bostick. And like his last two undead efforts, this one was shot up in the Great White North.
Synopsis:
On a small island off North America's coast, the dead rise to menace the living. Yet, the islanders can't bring themselves to exterminate their loved ones despite the growing danger from those they once held dear. A rebel among them hunts down all the zombies he can find only to be banished from the island for assassinating his neighbors and friends. On the mainland, bent on revenge, he encounters a small band of survivors in in search of an oasis on which to build a new life. Barely surviving an attack from a mass of ravenous flesh-eaters they commandeer a zombie-infested ferry and sail to the island. There, to their horror, they discover the locals have chained the dead inside their homes, pretending to live "normal" lives...with bloody consequences. What ensues is a desperate struggle for survival and the answer to a question never posed in Romero's Dead films: Can the living ever live in peace with the dead?

I'm a big fan and cant wait. Whats taking them so long to give it a title?
I'm a fan of every Romero zombie movie because each one is very different than the previous and i like that diversity of ideas.

I'm excited to see this but i would also like to see something that goes with the continuity, as in after Land of the Dead. But i'm still happy to see this.

Oh boy......so sad.... I used to love Romero's work, he was a hero, I even met him once... but this is just sad. That trailer looks like "Australia of the dead". You can all keep talking about social & political commentaries but the problem is he keeps getting amateur actors that look like Sci-fi channel regulars and the dialog is just childish....
I still have hope that Romero will come up with a decent project but this ain't it.
Next time it will be the Zombies grabbing a camera and making a movie...

i think the titles something of the dead, should belong to romero. it just confuses people, or me because i expect all titles by that name to be good and instead i get things like army of the dead or dance of the dead.
but this movie looks promising, granted its a trailer and meant to do that. but at least its better looking than diary.

I agree, infact he lost the name rights to "...of the LIVING Dead" to the other co-creator, who felt the series should go in another direction and that became Return of the Living Dead and Children of the Living Dead, and those obviously didnt go very well. He can only use "... of the Dead" now.
I don't know if you knew that or not.

It's really hard to get an idea about the movie from this rough trailer, but in general it does look better than Diary. The central concept seems a little whacked, but I am interested to see how George lets it play out.....

Diary was just plain awful and Land wasn't much better. I'm not expecting this to be any good either. Romero has lost his touch and anything with his name on it these days is sure to be crap.
what?

I'm a huge Romero fan. >< Despite the rather boring Diary of the Dead, I'd still be up for any new zombie film from him. Yea, he's way past his prime for original, engaging, and frightening zombie movies, but this one at least looks somewhat promising.

romero lost his touch in 1985, the film quality of this trailer looks on par with the trailer for the first leprechaun movie

I think it's ridiculus that people are judging the latest Zombie effort brought forth by Romero, They haven't seen it yet. Who has lost touch Romero or the fans? I don't think it's Romero. I think that people need to revisit Night through Day to realise that what makes Romero effective and successful is his editing. Romero has never had a big budget, but look what land of the dead brought failure with more money accessible than previous productions. People can complain about so much that they overlook the merit of the actual film making. Don't judge it until you see it! Take Dawn for example ask yourself what makes it such a good film. I'ts not the acting, It's not the make-up, It's not the crayola color gore. You answer why it's such a good movie and then ask yourself why you show prejudice to Island of the Dead.

Sit back, relax and let George take you for another thrill ride on the zombie express! Good, bad or otherwise George's zombie films are better than 99.9% of all other zombie films released (or horror films in general for that matter). Romero's dead films all have his signature style, tone, quality and substance to them. I think you either get it or you don't. The original Dead trilogy are all horror classics in thier own rights, hands down. Alot of talented film makers only really make one good, original film in thier careers let alone a classic that stands the test of time and influences others. George has done it three times! I thought Land was decent, and Diary was entertaining. Could they have been better?, maybe?.... They are what they are. I remember most people HATED Day when it was released, but it is generally highly regarded now, some 20 years later. This new one looks like it is cut from the same cloth as the others and I look forward to seeing it. I'm just glad I don't have to wait 20 years anymore for another Dead film to be released! Thanks George! I'll see you and everybody else on the Island.
